A visit to a cafe turned out better than expected. Unbeknownst to us until we physically went to the cafe we intended to visit, it was not open on Mondays. Thus, we decided to visit other cafes around the area. Situated at the far end of Duxton Road is a cafe called Department of Caffeine. It was quite hard to spot given the fact that the door was translucent and there was no "showy" decor. As such, it took us quite a while but eventually we managed to find it!
Some photos here to give you an idea of how the cafe looks like from the outside!
Now the interior of the cafe.
Love the rustic and vintage feel of this cafe.
Here's the highlight of the day. Poached salmon fillet with broccoli salad and potatoes for SGD15. The salmon fillet tasted great. It was fresh and not too salty. However, I did not like the minty sauce drizzed on it.The broccoli salad was crunchy and tasted good. In addition, I disliked the dressing on the potatoes but the potatoes were fine. Overall, it was a memorable experience at Department of Caffeine and I would definitely pay a visit once again to try out the coffee and desserts here!
